Srinagar, Sep 11 (KNO): The Cyber Police Srinagar has issued an advisory, warning the general public to remain cautious about an online investment scam being run through the mobile application ‘Zupedia’ and the website Zupedia.com.
According to the advisory, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), people are being lured into registering on the platform and rating online content.
It says that initially, users receive small payments for completing simple tasks. However, after gaining their trust, the fraudsters convince users to invest larger amounts, ranging from Rs: 1,950 to Rs: 24,000, while promising higher returns.
“Once users invest more money, they are reportedly unable to withdraw their earnings, and the handlers behind the platform go incognito, causing financial losses to victims,” it says.
Meanwhile, the Cyber Police has advised citizens to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to such schemes. It has urged victims to lodge complaints on www.cybercrime.gov.in or contact the helpline number 1930—(KNO)
